Jennifer Durairaj

Toriijen Design Co. is led by Jennifer Durairaj, an architect whose work is shaped by light, proportion, natural materials and understated elegance.
A graduate of the Mies van der Rohe School of Architecture at Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, Jennifer’s journey brings together Indian grounding and international perspective. Her early training under Leo Pereira in Ahmedabad, followed by work with CCH, a restoration and remodelling practice in Trenton and later with Sarah Susanka, shaped a design approach that is both considered and deeply human.

After returning to Chennai in 2006, Jennifer founded her own practice with a quiet conviction, that spaces should feel as good as they look.
Her design language draws from Indian context, Japanese simplicity, Scandinavian clarity and a deep connection to nature. Every project begins with listening: to the site, the climate, the light, and the lives that will unfold within it. Through Toriijen, Jennifer creates refined, personal and quietly luxurious environments, spaces that are not only beautiful to look at, but meaningful to live in.
